Reversing Insulin Resistance Naturally

It is hard to believe that Dr. King led the fight for justice fifty-nine years ago that led to the Civil Rights and Voting Acts. How easy it is for us to forget rights that were fought so hard for! I agree with Dr. King that change is not easy. “Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability but comes through continuous struggle.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

This could not ring truer today!

However, we are in control of ourselves and the legacy of our health in body, mind, and spirit. What change will you fight for this year? 

I am excited to share the second in this three-part series on reversing insulin resistance to provide you a natural way of reversing this medical condition. Your body has amazing power to heal itself!  In this ten-minute video I share the natural steps and changes you can make that are not costly and do not require prescriptions that can rejuvenate your health and strengthen your metabolism. 

Three Factors to Reversing Insulin Resistance

Three main factors are macronutrients, toxic load, and eating and fasting windows. No matter what eating style you prefer, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, whole30, keto, random, lol, these issues apply to all of us as human beings. The nature of food production, toxic chemicals in our environment and products, and lack of understanding of the hidden additives in foods today. Regardless of the label which may say natural flavor, keto, etc., it does not guarantee that you are getting things in your food you did not bargain for!

Hidden Sugars​​​​​​​

The Eradicate Childhood Obesity Foundation shared that there are now over 250 names for sugar. Clearly, we are not aware of what we are getting in our food these days. The easiest way to eliminate these additives is to limit processed food and education. Decreasing toxic load requires vigilance for sure. In my video, I will share such “besieges” as the bad seed oils, cheap GMO vegetable oils that are found in many health products. They cause inflammation in the body, bloating, and weight gain.

Western Medicine’s Answer to insulin resistance

The western response to insulin resistance as I shared in my first video, What is Insulin Resistance? is to not even report it patients until it is full on type 2 diabetes. Then prescriptions are often the answer. Prescription drugs are palliative at best and there is not end game with diabetes. Those meds are for life with no “cure”. Yet we have options! We can make changes and let our body heal itself. All are choices. Currently, worldwide there are 537 million adults living with Type 2 Diabetes. There is an alarming rise in insulin resistance for people ages 18-44. Lifestyle is a factor and there are things we can do to change the course of insulin resistance before it turns into type 2 diabetes. 

I feel passionately that we indeed have the power to heal ourselves through our food, movement, and self-care choices. These are discussed fully in the video.

I hope your January has started off well, staying safe and healthy! The best thing we can do as this endemic rolls on is accept there will be more variants. Working on your health has never been more important! Make sure you are taking Vitamin D3/K2 especially if you spend much time indoors. Research shows that low Vitamin D goes along with immune compromise and those that have good levels have reduced chances of getting COVID.
